This season offers a natural connection to one of the most meaningful ways this congregation is present in the community: the farmer’s market ministry. Scripture reminds us, “I planted, Apollos watered, but God gave the growth” (1 Corinthians 3:6). These words resonate deeply when placed alongside the work of those who plant, cultivate, and harvest. Yet they also speak to the ministry that happens beyond the soil—the relationships formed, the conversations shared, and the hospitality extended in Christ’s name. The farmer’s market is more than a place of exchange. It is a space where community is built. Each greeting, each act of welcome, each moment of connection becomes a seed planted. Some seeds may grow quickly into friendships or opportunities for care. Others may take longer, quietly taking root in ways that are not immediately visible. In this season, we are invited to reflect on how this ministry embodies the call to be present in the world. Just as farmers prepare the ground and trust the process of growth, the church is called to show up faithfully, trusting that God is at work in every interaction. Offering a listening ear, sharing encouragement, or simply being a consistent, welcoming presence can be a powerful witness. May also brings a sense of anticipation. Markets begin to fill with early produce, and there is a shared hope for what the season will bring. In the same way, there is hope for what God will continue to cultivate through this ministry—new relationships, deeper trust, and opportunities to serve. This month offers an opportunity to give thanks for those who make the farmer’s market ministry possible: organizers, volunteers, vendors, and all who participate. Their work reflects care for creation, support for local livelihoods, and a commitment to community well-being. As the days grow longer and the summer season begins anew, consider how each person can take part in this unfolding work. Presence matters. Small acts matter. Seeds of kindness, justice, and grace, when planted faithfully, will bear fruit in time. May this season be one of growth—not only in fields and gardens, but in faith, connection, and shared purpose.
