Economic Development Consultant Paul Rupp said he applied for a $50,000 grant, from which $40,000 would be used to create the video with the remaining $10,000 to be used for marketing and promotional efforts. “The video will promote Revere’s hotels, shops, restaurants, nightlife, parks, open spaces, the revitalization of America’s first public beach and other attractions for the guests staying at Greater Boston’s first luxury resort and casino to experience,” Rupp wrote in the grant application. Rupp said Friday that if funding is approved, the video will be distributed on YouTube, the city’s website and across social media. Although the casino will be approximately five miles away, the purpose is to develop a symbiotic relationship between Encore and Revere’s growing hotel industry. “Revere believes its coming inventory of at least 1,700 hotel keys, its restaurants and its visitor attractions make Revere an attractive add-on for visitors to the new Encore casino,” Rupp said in the grant application. Citing a love affair with the city, DeLeo added that residents have treated him well. Bill to study health impacts from airplanes Also during Monday’s meeting, McKenna asked that Mayor Brian Arrigo request the state and federal delegation to join Congressman Stephen Lynch to focus on the bill he filed that would allow the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine to study the health impacts from planes. According to McKenna, the bill would benefit Revere residents who are directly impacted by flights going in and out of Logan International Airport. During a recent six-month period, 64,000 planes flew over Revere – primarily Beachmont. According to School Department Chief Financial Officer Matthew Kruse, approximately $21,000 is owed, compared to the $16,000 that was owed last year, across 11 schools for 183 school days. The Patriots first took care of business against host Peabody, 5-1 Feb. 20. But on Senior Night last Friday, Beverly shut them down to the tune of 8-0. “I was very happy with the effort against Peabody,” said coach Joe Ciccarello. “It was a chippy, choppy game that we found a way to win.” The Tanners scored the first goal of the game on the power play early on, but visiting Revere evened the score before the end of the period. The Patriots then took a 3-1 lead after two. Cam Mazza, Rich Briana, Alexio Trichilio, Wayne Cintolo and Matt D’Annolfo were credited with the goals. Cintolo, Trichilio, Briana and D’Annolfo accounted for one assist apiece. After giving up an early power play goal, Malden sophomore goalie J.T. Bowdridge stymied the Tanners the rest of the way. The Tanners tested him with at least 30 shots on net, and he was equal to the task. “It was a good back and forth game,” said Ciccarello. But then, it was a much different story against Beverly on Senior Night. “We just didn’t have our feet in this game, and as a result Beverly was moving much faster than us,” said Ciccarello. The Panthers led, 2-0 after one, and 4-0 after two. They broke the game wide open with four late power play goals against beleaguered freshman goalie Kurt Jancsy. Bowdridge played the first two periods in net. At the beginning of the game, the Patriots and their fans saluted the team’s seven seniors for their contributions to the program the last four years.
