Dear Friends
and Neighbors,
AS WE STEP INTO a new year, I’ve been thinking a lot about the
everyday moments that make life feel good — the quick chats
at the grocery store, the familiar wave from across the street,
the small ways we quietly show up for each other. Those little
things add up, and they’re a big part of why Kirkland feels
like home to me.
Taking a look at our Year in Review reminded Stephanie
and me just how many remarkable people live here — people
who lift others up, follow their passions, and create the sense of
community we’re all so proud of. Their stories stay with us, and

they’re the reason we feel so committed to telling the stories of
our local heroes, whether their impact is felt across the world
or simply across the street.
This month’s cover story on Mike Connachan brought that
into focus again. Mike is someone who reminds you what really
matters — family, tradition, kindness, and being present. His life
reflects the quiet power of connection, built one small moment at
a time.
As we step into 2025, I hope you find moments that make
you feel connected — to your neighbors, to your community,
and to the things that bring meaning to your days. Sometimes
it’s the smallest interactions that stay with us the longest.
Here’s to a year of good people, good conversations, and the
simple things that make Kirkland feel like home.
With gratitude,
Anne Hess & Stephanie Fawcett

A Look
Back at
2025
Looking back at 2025 reminded both of us
just how extraordinary this community truly
is. Month after month, we met neighbors
who turned hardship into purpose, talent
into service, and personal passion into
something that lifts others. Their stories—
of resilience, generosity, creativity, and
courage—reflect the heart of Kirkland and
the strength that comes from showing up
for one another.
Thank you for welcoming us into your lives
and trusting us with your stories. It is a
privilege we hold with deep gratitude.

FEBRUARY – Courage Beyond Limits
In February, we shared the remarkable
story of Lia Sterciuc, the first
American to finish the Triple Deca
Ultra-Triathlon Continuous—despite
learning to swim only in 2017. A
survivor of communist Romania, Lia
turned trauma into fuel, completing 114
km of swimming, 5,400 km of biking,
and 1,266 km of running in 45 days
with her husband as her only crew.
MARCH – Women’s History Month
March honored three women shaping
Kirkland. Dr. Kathy Feek has elevated
the arts for decades, from founding the
Cultural Arts Commission to bringing
healing art into hospitals. Molly Davis
of Eastside Dance champions inclusive
movement for all ages and abilities.
And Brigid Graham has spent 30 years
supporting children’s health, education,
and access to sports. Their work
strengthens our community.

JULY – A Journey to Freedom
In July, we told the extraordinary
story of Ben Sterciuc, who
escaped communist Romania
after two failed attempts,
months in prison, and weeks on
the streets. Reunited with family
in the U.S., he built a life rooted
in education, service, and faith.
From nursing and eldercare
to creating a global medical
nonprofit, his journey embodies
resilience, hope, and purpose.
AUGUST – A New Chapter for the Arts
August highlighted David Lynx, the
new Executive Director of the Kirkland
Arts Center, whose path through
theater, museums, teaching, and
gallery leadership ultimately led him
home. David brings warmth, vision,
and deep experience as he works to
revitalize the historic building, expand
arts education, and strengthen
community engagement—ushering in
a vibrant new era for artists, students,
and the wider community.
SEPTEMBER – Building Strength On
and Off the Field
In September, we featured Sean
McClinton, a committed leader
strengthening Lake Washington football
at both junior and high school levels.
From helping launch the Junior Kangs
cheer program to stepping in as Gridiron
Club President, Sean champions an
inclusive, well-supported experience

In April, we introduced Dr. Khanh Pham,
a respected Overlake surgical oncologist
whose expertise and empathy have
transformed urologic care. The son of
Vietnamese refugees, Dr. Pham rose
from humble beginnings to become the
Eastside’s most experienced robotic
urologic surgeon. His commitment to
less-invasive, highly precise treatments
is improving outcomes and bringing
advanced, life-changing care to families
across our community.

MAY – Finding Purpose Through Service
In May, we highlighted Connie Chapin,
founder of Angelfish Swimming, whose
backyard swim lessons began as a
way to support her four children. That
necessity became a 22-year calling,
helping thousands gain lifesaving
skills. Connie’s journey—through

MEET
CONNACHAN
MIKE
Let Family be Your
Guiding Light and
You Will Never
Feel Lost
BY JENNY HART DANOWSKI
E
ven in an age dominated by screens,
endless notifications, and fleeting
digital interactions, genuine connection
feels rare. Friendships, family time,
and community moments are often
overshadowed by the rush of schedules and the
constant pull of the online world. Yet it is precisely these bonds
— the shared laughter, the long conversations, the celebrations
big and small — that give life meaning. When you meet Mike
Connachan, it’s clear he runs on more than coffee and schedules
— it’s joy, curiosity, and a deep love for the people in his life.
Stories of family dinners, long drives filled with conversation,
and shared adventures paint a picture of a life lived thoughtfully,
connected, and together.
Mike has built a life with his wife, Leah, and their two
children around what matters most — family, community,
and connection. Whether cheering from the sidelines, hosting
dinner with friends, or enjoying time on Lake Washington,
their world revolves around showing up for one another
and celebrating every moment, big or small. “Family is my
compass,” Mike says. “It’s what guides every decision and keeps
us grounded in what really matters.”
Roots that Run Deep
Mike grew up just outside Toronto, Ontario, in a close-knit
family with his parents and two sisters. His parents, both born
in the seaside town of Prestonpans, Scotland, instilled in him
the importance of humility, kindness, and perseverance. “My
dad was one of those quiet, steady guys,” Mike recalls. “He
wasn’t outspoken, but when he spoke, everyone listened. He
loved writing stories and poetry — a gift he passed on to me,
and something I’ve carried with me ever since. He watched
every hockey game I played from the corner, and we had
the best conversations. He never criticized; instead, he asked
questions, offered advice, and always encouraged me.”
14 January 2026
During his teenage years, his father would leave letters on
his pillow for him to read. “They were words he knew might
reach me where a conversation couldn’t,” Mike says. “I’d read
them, pause, and take them to heart. Though I didn’t realize it at
the time, it was his way of keeping my values top of mind, when
I needed them the most.” After his dad passed a couple of years
ago, Mike was astonished when his mom handed him the bundle
of letters she had saved. “Reading them now, as a father myself,
I hear his voice, feel his guidance in every word, and find myself
unconsciously bringing that same patience and love to my own
kids,” he says. “In that way, he continues to live on through me.”
From the High Seas to Home
After earning a degree in hotel management, Mike’s career
with Holland America Line took him across the globe — from
the Islands of South Pacific to the icebergs of Antarctica.
It was aboard one of those ships that he met Leah, a
fellow adventurer with a shared love for travel, food, and
new experiences. Their story unfolded across oceans —
experiencing cultures, meeting lifelong friends, and sharing
moments that would shape their future — and eventually, a
proposal in front of Alaska’s Mendenhall Glacier. “We took a
float plane over the glacier,” Mike recalls. “It was incredible,
and that’s where I asked her to marry me, the rest is history.”
After several more years of working and traveling together,
they settled in Seattle in 2010. Mike transitioned to Holland
America’s corporate office, overseeing Food & Beverage
operations for a fleet of ships, while Leah joined a small startup
that would later become MedBridge, where she continues to
serve as an executive. When their daughter Kaylie was born

in 2013 and their son Carter followed in 2014, life shifted from
ports of call to playdates and preschool. “It was love at first
sight when my kids were born,” Mike says. “They are so full of
adventure, wonder, and humor, and we are the best of friends.
They truly make my world go round.” It was during their
orientation for pre-school at St. John Vianney that Mike and
Leah realized just what a special community they had found in
Finn Hill, one that would become central to their family’s life.
Building a Family — and a Village
Both Mike and Leah come from remarkably close families, so
creating that same foundation for their children has always
been their top priority. They’ve combined some of the traditions
they grew up with and added new ones along the way, building
a family life full of laughter, connection, and shared experiences.
“Live with purpose, live with joy, and make each day count,”
Mike says. “Don’t view the routine, sometimes mundane things
you do for your children as chores. See them as opportunities to
connect. And don’t let time slip away without telling the people
around you how much you love them.”
For the Connachans, family life is never ordinary. Whether

filled with games, or taking summer hikes and camping trips,
every moment is embraced. Long dinners at home, inspired
by Leah’s family traditions, bring together friends and family
over good food, great wine, and plenty of laughter, while the
family car has become a rolling confessional and comedy
club, a space for conversation and connection between school,
sports, and activities. They rarely miss a Kraken or Seahawks
game, celebrating every win — big or small — as a lesson in
perseverance and joy. Boating on Lake Washington, birthday
breakfasts, homemade cakes, and everyday celebrations fill their
days with warmth, humor, and love. And through it all, laughter
is always at the center, dad jokes included, while showing up for
one another — saying “I love you,” reaching out to friends, and
being present — remains their constant compass.
A Sense of Purpose and Place
For Mike and Leah, Kirkland has become more than just a
hometown — it’s the center of their story. They volunteer
within their community, cheer their kids on from the sidelines
of every sport, and make time to support local events.
“Community isn’t about where you live,” Mike says. “It’s
about how you show up for people.” The family’s Scottish
roots and years of travel have given them perspective too—
a deep appreciation for the world beyond their doorstep
and the beauty right at home. “Travel teaches you that
people everywhere want the same things — family, laughter,
connection,” Mike reflects. “Those values are what we try to
bring into our everyday life here.”
A Natural Fit for Real Estate
When the pandemic arrived, Mike transitioned from hospitality
to real estate, joining Windermere Real Estate on Market Street
in Kirkland. The move was a natural one. “Real estate is really
about relationships,” he says. “My background taught me to
listen, to care, and to pay attention to the details that make
people feel seen. I never realized how similar being a realtor
is to being a coach. Every new client requires guidance and
counseling. I thrive on that, and love to provide white glove
touches along the way most realtors wouldn’t think of.”
But more than anything, his work is rooted in heart.
“Homes are where life happens,” he says. “Helping someone
find theirs — that’s meaningful work, and it fuels my
soul”. Clients describe Mike as genuine, thoughtful, and

results-driven. But it’s his warmth, calm perspective, and sense
of care that truly set him apart. He’s built his business the
same way he’s built his family life — on authenticity, trust, and
showing up for people.
“At the end of the day, don’t
forget to smile at the chaos.”
The Connachan Way
Spending time with Mike, it becomes clear that his approach to
real estate isn’t separate from the rest of his life — it’s shaped by
it. In a world that could use a little more connection, a little more
kindness, and a lot more community, Mike shows that home is
more than walls and square footage. It’s the place where laughter
settles in, where traditions grow, and where people learn what it
means to belong.
“At the end of the day, don’t forget to smile at the chaos,”
Mike says with a wide grin. “Life never sticks to the script —
and honestly, that’s half the joy. If you can laugh, love, give
yourself some grace, and enjoy the moments in between,
you’re already winning. And if you can have a little fun while
you’re at it? Even better.”
If you’re looking to make a move or simply want a trusted
neighbor to help you navigate the next chapter of your real estate
journey, Mike is always here to help — with authenticity, care, and
a genuine love for the community he calls home.

Introducing Avery Brown,
Our Newest Junior Writer
An LWHS junior blending creativity, resilience,
and a love for writing.
MY NAME IS AVERY BROWN and I am a
junior at Lake Washington High School.
Engaging in a variety of different
activities is something essential to me.
This is why I make sure to fill my time
with a wide spread of activities that
work different parts of my brain and my
body. I love stretching my imagination
through creativity. I paint, draw, sew,
write, sing, play instruments, and do
theater. I participate in my school’s
swim team in the fall, and our theater
program in the spring. But above all, I
love to write.
Whether it be poetry, prose, or even
songwriting, my passion for the written
word is not only an outlet for me but
18 January 2026
a way to move myself forward. This
process of balancing my passion with
my success has opened the floodgates
for worlds of opportunity, as is shown
in my participation with programs like
CIEE (a global study abroad program),
and Seattle Arts and Lectures - Writers
in the Schools. I am proud of the effort
and time I’ve committed to angling my
life towards a profession in writing.
I plan to structure my career with a
focus on journalism. Journalism piques
my interest, because it allows me to
interact with the world and write in
conversation with society. My dream
is to be able to pursue a career where
I can travel and engage with different
cultures, putting my experience, and the
experiences of others into words.
When looking for inspiration, I
truly believe that I can turn anywhere.
One of the main themes that I like to
explore in my writing is the beauty
in everyday things. Suddenly, when
I can romanticize the mundane,
there becomes inspiration in all of
my surroundings. I can truly become
inspired from anyone or anything,
which fuels my passion to keep creating
even when it feels impossible. Last
summer I challenged myself to journal
every single day. I wanted to write about
my life in a way that felt authentic,
and put something on paper each
day, even on days when life seemed
monotonous and uninteresting. Not only
did this practice serve me as a way of
record keeping my favorite moments,
it also taught me that something worth
remembering can be gleaned from
every experience. The days that lacked
tangible world exploration, were the
days that I could explore my mind the
most. Even when things felt boring,
I could look inside myself and infuse
tedious moments with a feeling of
speciality. I wrote more that summer
than I ever have in my life.
When engaging in extracurricular
activities, hobbies, and sports, finding
ways to balance everything I am
passionate about can be a struggle.
However, this struggle has taught me the
importance of having a support system.
My relationships with my friends and
family keep me stable, they are vital to
my happiness as well as my success. I am
especially grateful to my parents, who are
׉	7cassandra://RWaF059r0puDVoabU7l5XWxr0NBEN6YsBysFdiKcEdATm`i\&&q5I׉Eendlessly supportive of all of my endeavors, and who
supply me with the resources and encouragement to
keep growing. Being able to accept help is an essential
step in the process of bettering yourself. This is why
I encourage younger students who wish to follow an
ambitious pathway to first take a look around them,
and examine their relationships, making sure they
have a strong network of friends and family to help
them along their way.
In the Summer of 2025 I participated in a summer
abroad program with CIEE, an organization for youth
study abroad. I said goodbye to my parents and
moved in with a family in Paris for four weeks. It’s
difficult to summarize all of the things I learned from
being tossed into the Parisian city-scape, with a family
who spoke no English, and only the confusing winding
metro maps in front of me. But I think perhaps what I
can credit my Parisian adventure for the most, is how
it flooded me with a sense of independence. I learned
that true resilience means finding a crumb of comfort
in a sea of the uncomfortable. I got lost, confused, sad,
lonely, and had to pick myself up again and again,
and find ways to bend with the emotion and create
solutions for myself. Upon returning home, I felt like
a new person. I discovered that all the responsibility
and adaptability I learned in Paris was just as
applicable to my life back at home.
I can’t wait to take on a Junior Writer position at
Greet Kirkland! I’m incredibly grateful to my Kirkland
community which gives me the resources to make all
of my ambitions possible. I’m excited to explore within
my writing, the inner workings of a community that
has wholly shaped me!

YOUNG
INNOVATORS
MICHAEL SHRAER, JUNIOR WRITER
oday’s kids are the next generation of the world. And
if we want to be a successful generation, we need to be
better than the generation before us. That means we
have to be smarter and more creative. Some of the kids at my
school are already developing these skills, like Danylo Stoian
and Finn Dueterman. They are both really talented, and I
know you will think so too.
Meet Danylo
Danylo Stoian is a 7th grader at Kirkland MS who has a passion
for programming and web design. He has created several
things, including a website with games on it, a fake “blue
screen” that appears when you put in the wrong code, and
other things. Here is my interview with him.
Danylo
What is the biggest thing you have programmed?
I created a Mario game, and it is an app that took me five
months to make.
T
How did you make it?
First I used Python to write the code (no chat gpt!), and then
I used this thing called Py-installer. It doesn’t do what you
probably think it might do, because it doesn’t install Python. It
turns the Python program into an executable file, which I then
used this app called Inno to turn the EXE file into an installer,
and with the installer you can install the application.
Where did you learn to do this?
I have weekly lessons with a python teacher that helps me do
this sort of stuff.
What are you planning to do next?
I am already making my next game, Pac Man. It is currently in
its beta phase but I hope I will finish it soon.
Meet Finn
He is well known at my school for being good at hardware and
fixing stuff. He has made a Theremin, a trumpet-playing robot,
and some other things. Here is my interview with him.
What sort of things do you make?
So, the things that I make are mostly electromechanical, which
are big machines that do not use computer chips but still do the
task of a computer chip. This is mostly used in old telephone
equipment, which is what I’ve been working on for a while.
How do you decide what to build?
The way I decide what to build is mostly just what interests me
the most. So, if I find something that I’m really interested in, or it’s
just a fun little thing that would be fun to make, I will most likely
make an attempt to build it.

׉	7cassandra://t659Eww6BYZNVpfMw2lY1AZVIlzqwSAtbRNiR6XIIzgO(`i\&&q5I׉EWhat is your favorite
build?
My favorite build
that I’ve ever made is
my step-by-step dial
telephone system. It
is a big machine that
switches calls without
human intervention
and without any
computer chip.
What is your process
for building?
My process for building is first I’ll find what I want to build
(AKA what interests me), and then I will try and make a
plan. After that I will source parts for it and then I’ll build it.
It won’t work. Then I’ll debug it and put it together and then
it won’t work again. Then, you repeat that until it does work.
Where did you learn how to do this?
I am mostly self-taught. I started when I was 3 or 4, when I
got into electricity because. I asked my mom how electricity
works, like how the light turns on. I got this Magic School
Bus electricity kit, which was just a battery that makes a
light turn on, and once I saw the light turn on, I was hooked.
and I have been doing it ever since.

!SPONSOR SPOTLIGHT
ROOTED IN KIRKLAND,
READY TO LISTEN
How Janene Panek helps teens ride life’s rollercoaster
Janene with her
hubby, Gary!
Meet Janene Panek
of Rollercoaster
Teen Coaching
F
or Janene Panek, Kirkland isn’t
just a place on the map—it’s home
in the truest sense. Born in the
Midwest and raised in Kirkland from
the age of three, she grew up in the
same neighborhoods and schools that
surround her today. She attended Carl
Sandburg Elementary, Finn Hill Jr. High
(back when it was still called that), and
graduated from Juanita High School in
1995. Now, she’s raising her own teens
in the very community that shaped her
early years and values.
24 January 2026
Though she was brought up by
loving, supportive Midwestern parents
who both wholeheartedly modeled
the joy of “talking to strangers”, she
remembers absorbing an unspoken
message many kids of her generation
internalized: that some emotions
were acceptable, and others were
better tucked away or ignored.
She learned early how to keep the
peace, push down uncomfortable
feelings, and people-please rather
than express what she truly felt.
Looking back, she recognizes how
common that experience is—and how
much it can influence confidence,
boundaries, and self-worth. “I want
kids to know there are no bad
emotions,” she says. “When teens
can talk about what they’re feeling—
without shame or fear—they build
confidence and boundaries instead
of diminishing parts of themselves.”
Janene’s path to coaching wasn’t
linear, but in hindsight, every step
prepared her for the work she does now.
After graduating from the University of
Washington with an Interdisciplinary
Arts & Science degree (with an emphasis
on Society, Ethics, and Human Behavior),
she spent 12 years at Starbucks Coffee
Company in both retail roles and
corporate HR. She later stepped back
from the workforce to be home with
her two kids for three years, and when
she returned, it was through a role
that would quietly change everything:
working in the front office and health
room at Carl Sandburg Elementary.
In that school health room, she
started noticing a shift. More and more
students were coming in not because
they were sick, but because they were
overwhelmed. They needed a place to
cry, reset, or escape for a few minutes.
She had a natural way of sitting with
them, listening, and helping them feel
grounded again. She didn’t know it yet,
but those quiet moments were setting
the stage for her calling.
Then THE PANDEMIC HIT—and it
amplified what she was already seeing.
Anxiety, loneliness, and emotional
׉	7cassandra://vXOW_jOESTHnhACQqgdqdD6fFyE4GlmtydKtgG2gzQYL`i\&&q5I׉Eshutdown became widespread among
teens, including her own. Around that
time, she noticed an email from the
high school and there was a blurb about
a local teen coach for extra support.
Curious, she reached out to the coach
to learn more about the practice of
coaching adolescents. That was the
spark. She began training under the local
teen coach mentor in August 2022 and
enrolled in an ICF-accredited certification
program through the International Coach
Academy. She launched Rollercoaster
Teen Coaching in October 2023.
Today, she works with kids ages 10
to 18, offering exactly what so many of
them crave but don’t always have access
to: a safe spot to talk about anything
that’s crowding their mind or heart.
Teens don’t have to filter themselves
with her. Conversations can cover school
stress, friendships, parents, social media,
anxiety, decision-making, or just the
pressure of growing up. Nothing is off
limits and it’s all confidential. “My clients
know I’m raising teens too,” she says.
“That appears to make them comfortable,
because I’m living this phase with my
kids —but I’m not THEIR PARENT, which
makes a huge difference.” She becomes
the trusted adult who listens without
judgment and aims to ask the right
questions at the right time.
Janene also helps teens hold
themselves accountable to the goals
and habits they want to build. She
realizes no two kids are the same, so
their focus areas vary—from managing
stress to building routines, improving
communication, or navigating tricky
social dynamics. She supports each teen
based on their personality, pace, and
needs. And while deep conversations
are common, so is laughter. “We try to
have a little fun in every session. With
how much pressure kids carry today,
humor matters. I love playing games
and enjoy a little healthy competition,
so if I can gamify something to make
the topic more fun and interactive, I’ll
do my best”.
Janene’s son Max posing with his girlfriend after a
Juanita High School football game.
While her heart is in Kirkland and
she hopes to support as many local teens
and families as possible, coaching allows
her to work with clients anywhere,
thanks to technology. Referrals from
friends, neighbors, and parents have
helped her reach families beyond the
Kirkland zip codes, and she welcomes
those connections. While it’s hard to
replace the energy shared when in
person, she realizes that the pandemic
proved to us that virtual connections
can be very genuine and rewarding.
Outside of coaching, Janene is
adventurous and vibrant. She loves
camping in the San Juans on Lopez
Island, hiking, and playing pickleball
and tennis—that was her high school
sport at Juanita in the 90’s). She’s also
a karaoke fan (which is where she met
her husband, Gary!), a board game
enthusiast, and someone who values
deep connections with her girlfriends.
She also adores her family pets - an 8
year old amphibian axolotl, Hammy, and
their 3 year old kitty, Curb.
Summers often take her to
Minnesota for family reunions, and
when she travels farther, it’s to places
like Kauai, Japan, Thailand, and
Cambodia. She’s also a proud mom to
her daughter, Lily, 19, and her son, Max,
16—two teens who remind her daily of
the world today’s kids navigate.
At its core, Rollercoaster Teen
Coaching isn’t about “fixing” teens;
it’s about giving them space to be
themselves and discover who they’re
becoming. Janene’s goal is simple
and powerful: help kids feel their
emotions, find their voice, and build the
confidence and self-love to step into the
world as their whole selves—without
apology, pressure, or pretense.
“As a parent, I appreciate that Janene
has used a variety of activities with her
to discuss friendship and emotions. After
sessions, my daughter comes back to me
cheerful and feeling good about herself. She
feels like she is learning a lot from Janene
and loves hearing that her sensitivity can
be viewed as her superpower. Instead of
viewing aspects of herself as negatives, she
is learning to love who she is.”
—PARENT OF A CURRENT CLIENT
“Janene gave me a safe place to reflect on
the choices---both positive and negative--that
I had made in my life. After helping
me understand these choices, she offered
practical guidance that helped me move
forward in a positive direction. What I
valued most about coaching with her was
not just how personal and responsive it
felt, but also how she helped me develop
strategies for dealing with daily challenges.
She really listened and tailored her
approach to what we needed each week.”

HOME(S) FOR
THE HOLIDAYS
Heading to your “happy place” for the
holiday season? From budgeting and
location tips to seasonal planning and
investment management, here’s how to
make your second home a joyful and
financially smart getaway.
BY CAROLINE PERROTT

hat’s the next mountain to climb if the American
dream is homeownership? For many, it’s a second
home; the kind of place you can escape to for long
weekends, gather the grandkids, or retire the way you deserve
to. A second property can be a lifestyle upgrade, offering
cherished traditions and holiday memories. But it’s also a
major financial decision that requires strategy and planning.
Budgeting for a Second Home
Before browsing listings, it’s important to run the numbers.
Beyond the down payment and mortgage, buyers should
factor in property taxes, insurance, utilities, upkeep, and
homeowners’ association fees if it’s in a vacation destination.
Experts recommend that your total housing costs (including
both homes) stay under 28 to 30% of your gross monthly
income to avoid being stretched too thin.
Picking the Right Location
Second homes are often tied to emotion — beachfront
sunsets, lake weekends, or snow-covered slopes. But location
also impacts long-term value. Look for areas with strong
resale markets, year-round appeal, and accessibility. A house
two hours away may be used more often (and rented more
easily) than one requiring flights.
We Understand Commitment
At Edward Jones, we deliver candid guidance and
personalized investment strategies to help you plan for and
realize the possibilities of your future – for you, your family
and generations to follow.

Seasonal Planning
With the holidays often sparking trips to second homes,
planning for how you’ll use the property throughout
the year is smart. Creating a seasonal schedule can help
maximize your enjoyment while minimizing costs. For
example, renting your property during peak seasons when
you’re not there can offset expenses.
Managing the Investment

A second home is both a retreat and an asset. If you’re
considering renting it out, research local regulations, shortterm
rental laws, and property management services. Even
if you don’t rent, maintaining your home in top condition —
landscaping, HVAC checks, winterizing — preserves its longterm
value.

Wilson came into the Fawcett household as a Middle
MEET WILSON FAWCETT
The cat who thinks he’s a dog!
School graduation gift for Brooks, who had always dreamed
of having a kitty of his own. Since some family members
are allergic to cats, the search led them to the Siberian
breed, known for being hypoallergenic. After months on a
breeder’s waiting list, Wilson joined the family in August
2020—perfect timing for bringing joy and laughter during
the long days of COVID.
Brooks, a loyal Seattle Seahawks fan, chose Wilson’s name
as a tribute to quarterback Russell Wilson. The name stuck
perfectly, and soon it became clear that Wilson lived up to his
namesake’s confident, take-charge energy!
What makes Wilson truly special is his dog-like personality.
He doesn’t just coexist with Enzo and Whiskey—he wrestles
with them! Whether stalking, tackling, or playfully pinning
them down, Wilson holds his own among his canine brothers.
At home, Wilson is nothing short of royalty. He sleeps
on an extra pillow above Stephanie’s head, and when he
hops into bed, the dogs immediately make room for him.
He loves to “make cookies” on fluffy blankets and has a
sweet habit of placing a paw (or sometimes two!) gently on
your face when you hold him like a baby—earning him the
nickname “Two Paws.”
Wilson’s affectionate, fearless nature makes him the
heart of the household. Always eager to be near his people,
he truly believes he runs the place—and honestly, the
Fawcetts agree. Around the house, he’s affectionately known
as “King Wilson.”
A cat with the confidence of a dog, the charm of a royal,
and the sweetness of a lifelong companion—Wilson is,
without a doubt, one of a kind.

magazine partnered with Kitchen
& Market for a client happy hour.
Delicious wine, yummy snacks, and
great conversations created a warm,
easygoing atmosphere that made it a
perfect evening for connection. Guests
enjoyed the chance to mingle, meet
other local clients, and spend time
together in a relaxed, welcoming setting.
Kitchen & Market continues to
stand out for its fresh, local, madefrom-scratch
approach. Their meal
kits and prepared foods are designed

high-quality ingredients, great flavors,
and thoughtful convenience for busy
households. From ready-to-enjoy snacks
to full meal solutions, Kitchen & Market
focuses on creating simple, delicious
options that feel like restaurant quality
without the restaurant price.
Kitchen & Market’s commitment
to quality begins with the ingredients
themselves. Every dish is assembled

comfort, flavor, and consistency.
Convenience is at the heart of
their mission. Their meal kits are
intentionally designed for real life —
easy to follow, quick to prepare, and

who want a delicious meal without

Kitchen & Market provides an accessible
alternative that still feels special.

meal at home for a fraction of
the cost. Customers appreciate that they
can elevate their dinner table without
