Because of the different school districts in the El Paso area, we have different start dates for the new school year. Therefore, we have chosen to celebrate the beginning of the school year with a blessing the backpacks and the teachers on August 19th during the morning worship service. I want to invite each of you to come and participate in this special time. There is no better way for students, teachers, and administrators to start the new year than having the church pray for them. In addition, we are going to do something new this year. When I grew up, the beginning of the school year was also Sunday School promotion. So, this year on Sunday, September 2nd, will be Sunday School Change Day. If you want to change Sunday School classes or even start going to a Sunday School class, Sept 2nd will be the day to change. It is also okay to choose to remain in the class you are already attend. I am going to be asking the Sunday School teachers to give us a short synopsis of what they will be teaching, and we will include them in the upcoming newsletters.
