We were one of the churches celebrated! They shared about our Cooking Matters class from this summer. "Wesley United Methodist Church in Fort Smith recently finished hosting a six week Cooking Matters course. Cooking Matters provides participants with the knowledge and skills to cook meals at home and how to get the most out of their budget. Nine participants registered and by the end of the course, had created a community within themselves and with church members." It’s great for us to be recognized for being good neighbors. The truth is that we do a lot more than just that in our community. They could have shared about our Farmer’s Market Ministry. That really is being good neighbors. We are partnering with the Farmers who work hard for their harvest and have generous hearts to give to the community. We are the hands and the feet in delivering to blessing boxes across Fort Smith. They could have shared about our partnership with Clearinghouse and providing snack bags to 4 elementary schools. Along with books each quarter. Way to be good neighbors. There are a lot of ways that I have witnessed Wesley UMC being good neighbors. Matthew 22:37-39 “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.’ 38 This is the greatest and first commandment. 39 And a second is like it: ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ This is evident in the works of this church. You are living out these commandments. You love God fiercely and wholly and you love your neighbor as such. Let us keep searching for ways to be the church and a good neighbor.
