All were recognized for the accomplishments they have made within the home building industry and for their commitment to the HBRA and the Fairfield County communities. Peter Fusaro’s continual dedication and service both locally and for the state earned him the 2017 Meritorious Service Award. As founder and President of Preferred Builders Inc. located in Old Greenwich CT, Peter Fusaro is no stranger to the building industry where he has been building for the past 30 years. He was honored with the 2008 Builder of the Year HBRA Award, 2009 Community Service HOBI Award, 2009 Philanthropist of the year, Vision Fund Award and Best In Green Award 2009, Best Green Energy Efficient HOBI Award 2012, Merit Award from the CT Green Building Council 2013, US Department of Energy Grand Winner 2013 and NAHB Green Project of the Year -Single Family Custom 2014 In 2014 Pete joined Sound Beach Partners team as a project manager. He has been a member of the Home Builders & Remodelers Association of Fairfield County since 1988. The 2016 guidance document arguably signaled DOL’s intent to increase aggressive enforcement of joint employment status in its investigations, and NAHB is pleased that DOL is rescinding it. Likewise, NAHB commends the agency because it placed undue burdens on our members to show that the subcontractors they hire are independent contractors and not employees. As previously reported in 2015, DOL issued administrative guidance on the application of standards for who is an employee under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).
